Though it snowed again her in the Northeast it is spring and summer is not far behind. This means that summer music festivals have been announced. There is just something about listening to live music outside that stirs the soul, though there are a fair number of indoor festivals as well. Here are some links to sites that list the 2011 summer music festival

schedules.

The Concert Sound, Indoors

Of course if you can’t get out you can always rent a concert Blu-ray of your favorite artist, pop it in and let Marantz take you away with breathtaking sound. Most Blu-ray concerts these days are recorded so well you’ll think your sitting in the audience, not in your living room. Do you have a favorite concert you’ve seen on disc?

She will likely remember them longer than any other event in her young life as she gets older.

How often do you purchase CD’s and MP3′s? Many people especially younger folks have starting to get their music mostly from streaming sources like Pandora, Rhapsody, Slacker and Groveshark. Each of these services works a little differently.

Free Services
Pandora and Slacker are Free programmable radio services. They let you choose an artist or set of artists and then they build a station around it for you to listen to. You cannot choose specific songs but you’ll hear your favorite artists about 2-3 times an hour, the rest is artists like your favorite.

Subscription Services
Rhapsody is a subscription service that also has genre based stations, but Rhapsody lets you choose from a large catalog of music that you can listen to on-demand.

Hybrid
GroveShark is a hybrid, it lets you choose the songs you want to listen to on-demand for Free but has a much smaller catalog than Rhapsody. Grooveshark also has a subscription model that lets you listen on a mobile device and save play lists.

Are you still buying CD’s and MP3′s?
Will all this instant gratification drive down CD and MP3 sales? If you could pay the price of 6 to 15 CD’s to listen to whatever you wanted without any of the hassle of owning a product that has to be stored or backed up, would you?

Several Marantz products allow you to access 1000′s of Internet Radio stations and services like Rhapsody and Pandora. Check out the M-CR603, NA7004 ,and the SR7005

As well having a long solo career, Moore was also a member of the rock band Thin Lizzy earlier in his career. His recording career spanned several decades where he experimented with many styles of music. My favorite Gary Moore song will always be the heart wrenching blues song Still Got the Blues (for you) (1990)
