I purchased my first Marantz equipment in 1978. It was a Marantz 2265B receiver. I used that receiver almost daily for 23 years and it never let me down. In recent years, I have purchased two Marantz universal players and they have been absolutely bullet-proof. With Marantz, it truly is all about the music! I will be a fan and user of Marantz audio equipment for life!
I ♥ Marantz! I’ve had my Marantz Receiver 2238B for over 20 years and I still use it daily! No comparison with any other amp of this generation I’ve heard… I grew up in Kodiak, Alaska – there’s a store called Ardinger’s that sold Marantz. I used to stop in and drool over all the beautiful Marantz equipment! When something is right, you just know it! Awww, the memories!
My dad purchased the Marantz 2275 receiver in 1975 and matched it to the Bose 901 Series II speaker system (I was 14-years-old then). Let me tell you… this system really pumped out the sound with amazing clarity and richness, even at FULL volume!!! AMAZING!! The old 2275 stopped working about 1995 and he replaced it with a Denon receiver that put out 60 watts per channel, not much less than the 75 watts the Marantz 2275 was rated at. HA… the lightweight(literally)Denon was no match for the powerhouse contained inside the enclosure of the 2275! My dad was going to dispose of the 2275, but I decided to take it (I now have the 2275 and the 901′s since my dad passed away in 2005). Never did anything with it, until recently I pulled it out of the box after all these years and hooked it up to the 901′s once again. I had the neighbor ladies over a few weeks ago to listen to Glenn Miller and other Big Bands. These 80-something-year-old ladies were amazed at the sound quality! Had the 901′s checked out and they are still in perfect working condition, even though they were first purchased in 1975! I am thinking of having a big July 4th barbecue on my street this summer and will probably set up the 2275 and 901′s as the “entertainment system.” They just don’t make stuff like this anymore!!
